Arrival by air

Estonia's international airport, Lennart Meri Tallinn Airport, provides excellent facilities and a wide variety of services. There are direct flights or connections to Tallinn from many European cities. Check these out here.

In addition, there are many connecting flights from Riga Airport (Latvia) and Helsinki Airport (Finland).

Tallinn - Riga - Vilnius

By train

From Central and Southern Estonia to Riga or Vilnius with ease!

Starting from January 2025, you can travel by train from TallinnTapaTamsaluJõgevaTartuElva, and Valga to both Latvia and Lithuania. The train to Riga and Vilnius runs once a day with a transfer at Valga station.

Stops and route 

  • On the Tallinn – Tartu – Valga section, the journey is operated by Elron (Stadler Flirt train), and the express train stops at the following stations: Balti StationKitsekülaÜlemisteTapaTamsaluJõgevaTartuElvaValga.
  • On the Valga – Riga section, the journey is operated by Latvian passenger train operator AS Pasažieru vilciens (Vivi), and the train stops at the following stations: ValgaLugažiStrenčiValmieraLodeCēsisLīgatneSiguldaInčukalnsGarkalneJuglaZemitāniRiga.
  • On the Riga – Valga section, the train stops at the following stations: Riga, Zemitāni, Jugla, Inčukalns, Sigulda, Līgatne, Ieriķi, Cēsis, Lode, Valmiera, Strenči, Lugaži, Valga. The journey is served by the PESA 730 ML train, owned by LTG Link, which also serves the Riga – Vilnius line.
  • On the Riga – Vilnius section, the journey is operated by the Lithuanian passenger train operator LTG Link (PESA 730 ML train), and the train stops at the following stations: RigaJelgavaJoniškisŠiauliaiRadviliškisKėdainiaiJonavaKaišiadorysVilnius.

 

 

Arrival by sea

Ships from Helsinki bring thousands of travellers to Tallinn's busy passenger port each day also there is an overnight ferry link with Stockholm.

Connections

Ferries cross the Gulf of Finland between Tallinn and Helsinki several times a day, covering the distance in roughly 2 to 3 hours. From late spring to late autumn, high-speed vessels also operate on the route, reducing travel time to just 1.5 hours. Ferries between Tallinn and Stockholm depart every evening, with the trip taking approximately 15 hours.

The largest ferry operators are Tallink, Viking Line and Eckerö Line.

Overnight cruise

Tallink and Viking Line are offering overnight cruises across the sea. It is a good choice if you would like to get a cheaper alternative for your accommodation. Arrival by bus

Two international bus lines offer connections to Tallinn from several other European cities. Regular routes connecting Tallinn with Riga and Vilnius operate several times a day.
